Bow and Hook Game

Particularly played by boys, the Bow and Hook is a very old game, highlighted in the table «Children’s Games», painted in 1560 by the Dutch Pieter Brueghel. «… the catraios take the bows, lead them, first with their hands, then with a guide that can either be a tree branch or made of wire …» (Cabral 1998a, pp. 100-1), which can be a straight, curvilinear, mixed route, with or without obstacles, in a gymkhana system (Cabral 1998b, pp. 265-66). It can be played individually or in a team, where each player has a bow and a hook that allows him to roll the bow. Once the start line and the finish line are marked, the objective is to get to the end of the route as quickly as possible, without the bow falls or falls. If the bow falls, the player will have to return to the starting line and resume the course. win the player who gets to the goal the fastest.
