In all countries of the world or almost all the game of pins is found which has a very ancient origin of uncertain dating; they were certainly known by the ancient Egyptians and the Greeks.
This game is the ancestor of today’s bowling.
Currently this game is widely practiced in Spain (bolos) and in France (quilles) and in some Italian cities.
In the various regions there are an infinite number of variations both in the shapes and in the rules and sizes of the pins, in the materials used and in the playing areas.
Almost always 9 pins are used, 1 of which is higher than the others called king or queen.
Their arrangement and the distance between them varies from area to area, however, to allow for competitive comparisons, there is a precise game regulation.
The game can be played either individually, in pairs or teams; the game essentially consists in knocking down the greatest number of pins with a ball, usually made of wood.
